Flexible or Resolute?

When is vision helpful or harmful? Is flexibility or resolve more valuable when creating and pursuing a vision of the future?

Whether pursuing a corporate or personal vision resolve is a valuable attribute. It becomes counterproductive when it neglects 2 things: new data, sunk costs.

Whatever your vision was three years ago, the economy has changed. Jobs are less stable. Markets are less predictable. The future is less certain. Those things should affect your vision.

If you have invested one dollar or one trillion dollars, or one hour or one hundred days it makes no difference. That time and money is already spent. Don’t make your decisions based on past investment. Instead look ahead.

Resolve is a valuable force when all else is equal. When things change remember to be flexible to change with the times.
